Ramera Abraham discusses the art of vocal production – from recording performances to writing harmonies and crafting arrangements – in the latest episode of Studio Radicals, a new music podcast from dCS and Kate Hutchinson

Studio Radicals features in-depth interviews with some of music’s most innovative minds.

The series spotlights composers, producers and engineers who are building distinctive sonic worlds and bringing a fresh approach to music production. Across eight episodes, we talk to them about their process, passions and inspiration. We also explore how music is made and what it takes to create a hit record.

In Episode 5 Kate travels to North London to meet with award-winning vocal producer, recording engineer and songwriter Ramera Abraham.

Ramera has worked with emerging talent and world-famous pop stars: she’s recorded, produced and arranged vocals for numerous artists including Victoria Monet, Little Mix, Jade Thirlwall, Arya Starr and reggaeton pioneer Ivy Queen, as well as assisting on studio recordings with Adele, Jess Glynne and Elton John

Ramera grew up as part of a musical family in the Philippines, and has played piano and drums since childhood. She studied law and music in Canada, but relocated to London after a visit to London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios inspired her to pursue a career in production.

In our latest episode, Ramera reflects on working with artists to elicit a great performance and finding her own voice in the studio. She also discusses the intricacies of vocal production, responding to vocal trends and the artists that inspired her fascination with vocal expression…
