“Its vibrant effect on familiar recordings was nothing short of spectacular. I am not exaggerating when I say that no digital component has raised the level of my listening pleasure as much as the dCS Bartók.”

In the latest issue of Stereophile, Herb Reichert examines the Bartók’s performance with speakers and headphones, putting the system through its paces with a range of recordings by Charles Mingus, Emmanuelle Bertrand and Noël Akchoté. Herb also explores the Bartók’s range of filters, and tries out dCS Expanse: a proprietary headphone processing feature available to all Bartók Headphone DAC owners.

“This is not a tiny upgrade... How they sing, how they play - their intentions seem more obvious. Their presence in the room seems more real”
