The Bartók began with a singular vision: to distil 30 years of innovation into a future-proof design that embodies the essence of dCS. Combining a DAC, Music Streamer, Upsampler, and Preamplifier, it offers a remarkable experience for stereo listeners
Powerful, dynamic and versatile, the Bartók is designed to inform and inspire. Its crisp, clear playback renders even the finest details in sharp focus, revealing subtleties that most systems fail to impart. From the widest dynamic swings to the slightest shifts in tone, it reproduces each aspect of a recording with a sense of effortless control.
Viewed through its transparent lens, music feels both raw and defined, with each strand of sound unearthed to present a complete image with a tangible sense of rhythmic movement and life. With its unrelenting precision and poise, it cuts straight to the heart and soul of a recording, revealing not just the musicianship in a performance, but the emotion, drama and atmosphere, too.
Designed and hand-assembled at our headquarters in Cambridgeshire, England, the Bartók Streaming DAC is born from meticulous craft, exhaustive development and an obsessive attention to detail – a relentless pursuit of musical purity that has inspired us to reimagine the limits of sound reproduction.
Sharing aspects of its design with our renowned Rossini and Vivaldi systems, it employs a combination of hardware and software that is unique to dCS, and unrivalled in its sonic and technical performance. As its architecture is flexible, we can continue to upgrade its performance, delivering new features and enhancements via simple software updates.
Each aspect of the system has been honed and refined to provide the purest possible sound, with the lowest possible levels of distortion and noise, for a visceral experience that reveals the true depth and essence of recorded music. A product of visionary thinking and tireless dedication, it combines precision engineering with an elegant and timeless aesthetic.
Built to withstand even the most intensive use, and deliver magnificent sound at all levels and outputs, it’s a system that can grow and evolve, ensuring a state-of-the-art listening experience for years to come.
The Bartók Streaming DAC delivers a vast range of features in its convenient single-chassis design. Compatible with all digital sources and streaming services, including Roon, it can stream high-resolution music direct from TIDAL, Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer and Internet Radio, and play files direct from personal devices or storage drives via its USB, AES and S/PDIF inputs. It also plays directly from Apple devices via Apple AirPlay.
Its streaming interface supports all major lossless codecs, plus DSD in native and DoP formats, and ensures true 24-bit resolution audio when streaming via Ethernet. Playback is easily managed via our Mosaic app, which allows you to access music from multiple sources and adjust the settings on your system through a single, intuitive interface.
Available on all Android and iOS devices, the Mosaic app is supported by a powerful processing platform that runs on custom code developed by dCS. This software-driven design means its performance can be updated to add new features and functionalities as streaming platforms and services develop.
In addition to its streaming, upsampling, and D/A conversion capabilities, the Bartók Streaming DAC features an internal pre-amplifier that can directly drive any high-quality power amp, removing the need for a separate pre-amp. Compact yet hugely capable, it delivers an outstanding performance, whatever your hi-fi setup, listening preferences or musical tastes.
The Bartók Streaming DAC benefits from renowned playback technologies developed for our multi-award-winning Rossini and Vivaldi systems. With the Vivaldi’s launch, we redesigned our core technologies – in particular, the dCS Ring DAC system, Digital Processing Platform, and our proprietary clocking architecture – drawing on 30 years of continuous innovation to develop an all-new technical DNA.
These technological advances allowed us to deliver measured and sonic improvements in a range of critical areas. For the Bartók Streaming DAC, we’ve distilled these innovations into a single, streamlined chassis, delivering an all-in-one system that sets a new standard for performance and musicality in its field.
Aesthetically, the system’s design combines the visual language developed for our Vivaldi and Rossini series with a distinctive modern character. Strikingly minimal and elegantly understated, it is a timeless product designed to complement any living space or listening environment.
Each model is encased in aerospace-grade aluminium, a material chosen for its acoustic properties, and fitted with internal acoustic damping panels to reduce mechanical vibration and magnetic effects. Panels are sculpted using state-of-the-art milling machines and treated with a smooth pearlescent coating for a durable and elegant finish.
From the precision-engineered casework, to the hardware running deep within its core, each aspect of the Bartòk Streaming DAC has been meticulously refined to aid and enhance performance. Crafted from the finest materials and built to exacting standards, it is exhaustively tested and inspected prior to leaving our factory, so we can be confident it delivers the highest levels of quality and reliability.
